Geotechnical Engineer

My client is currently looking to employ a Geotechnical Engineer to work in their Birmingham office.
Main Duties:-
· Undertake infrastructure repair and new build projects for mainly for Network Rail and the Highways Agency.
· Investigation and analysis of slope instability, design of slope remediation solutions by soil nailing, concrete retaining structures, gabion walls and soil berms.
· Design of foundations and buried structures for infrastructure and superstructure renewals and new developments.
· Design site investigations for cutting/embankments; carry out design of slope stabilisation (using SLOPE/W) and retaining solutions.
· Supervision of ground investigations and geomorphological mapping exercises

Skills/Experience:
· BEng Civil Engineering or BSc Geology or Engineering Geology and MSc Foundation Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
· 5 years relevant experience with at least 3 years design experience at a consultancy or specialist civil engineering contractor.
· Design of reinforced concrete structures e.g. piles, foundations etc.
· The ability to log exploratory holes (soil and rocks) to BS 5930.
· Experience of techniques for ground investigations, boreholes, trial pits and in-situ testing.
· Factual and interpretative report writing.
