SITE ENGINEER –CIVILS. Working for a medium sized Civils & Groundworks contractor this is a position that would suit a young Site Engineer with 2 – 3 years experience who has had previous site experience, seeking to progress their career, where there is an opportunity to have a degree of responsibility, or a more experienced Engineer who is not chasing the career ladder and can settle in to carry out a wider range of engineering duties; whilst having an Engineer trained Contracts Manager visiting on an ad hoc basis, to guide and support you.

The work involves excavation, earthworks and groundworks, temporary and permanent drainage, with further work on RC being primarily structural modifications to existing buildings in the area and is in the medium to larger sized civils end of the market. Working with both EDM and tape you will need to be fit as this is a large site and the work will entail moving about the site to stay ahead of the subcontractors. An organised approach and the ability to keep good record details will be necessary. The project runs for 3 – 4 months and may stretch on for a further 6 – 8 months.

Preferably you will have a recognised Engineering or Construction related qualification. Possession of a CSCS card is an advantage, an NRSWA qualification and a First Aid certificate are optional.

Experience with either a main contractor or a sub-contractor will be equally relevant, so long as you have a good understanding of what is involved in the civils elements of construction. A good working knowledge of CAD would be a help, with IT skills being essential, a more senior candidate may suit so long as you possess the minimum skills listed.

The work will probably be based on a 5.5 day working week, and additional weekend work may be available in certain situations. An option is open for a freelancer though a candidate ultimately seeking a permanent role would also be considered. You must be legally permitted to live and work in the UK to apply for this job.
