This North London Local Authority is searching for an exceptional individual, a Landscape Designer who can combine good landscape design knowledge with the ability to apply that to planning applications and policy. Particularly there is a need to communicate and negotiate with applicants for planning consent, often in situations of disagreement and occasionally conflict. The main areas of work are relating to the statutory Town Planning function of the Council and some minor design project work and dealing with the landscape aspects of planning applications. The ideal candidate will have experience of statutory work or at least an understanding of the Planning System. British landscape degree courses include this subject. Australian and New Zealand degree courses have some planning content. The successful applicant will provide detailed advice to officers of The Planning Service and applicants on the environmental impact and landscape requirements of planning applications. You will need to show transferable landscape skills and good verbal and written communication skills. The quoted rate is negotiable upwards for candidates with previous local authority planning experience.
