The Thameslink Programme is a £3.5 billion rail infrastructure enhancement project planned for implementation between now and 2015. It will increase the capacity of the railway serving the South East along a North-South axis. The Health, Safety & Quality team of 7 staff supports the implementation teams and the Programme’s central teams in these technical fields.

The HSQ team is procuring a software package to automate the regular gathering of data on health, safety, quality and environmental matters. This short-term position will provide the resources so that the day-to-day activities continue unaffected while the software is configured.

Collate and input into periodic reports on behalf of the HSQ team, as well as reports as and when required.

Deliver health and safety inductions.

Be Point Of Contact for track competency ¿ assist HR in arranging medicals and D&A tests, arranging courses and distributing Sentinel cards.

PPE and making sure not over spending on procurement items by monitoring what the TOs spend.

Work with TOs, HR, office manager and facilities to provide health and safety administrative support which includes issues related to safety validation.

Remind senior managers to complete safety tours and assist in the administration of safety inspections.

Manage senior safety meeting including maintaining action log.

Deliver safety inductions, including conducting Display Screen Equipment assessments and Portable Appliance Testing.

These day-to-day activities are data gathering, report preparation, competence administration, protective equipment procurement and issue, managing safety meetings, health and safety induction of new starters, Display Screen Equipment assessments and Portable Appliance Testing.
