The client specialises in the provision of planning, design and management services for infrastructure development worldwide. With interests in transportation, water, maritime and property, the company is undertaking commissions in over 70 countries from a network of more than 70 offices.

The rail directorate is seeking a CAD Manager for the WS and CAD skill group to be based in London. The WS and CAD skill group offers a number of varied services such as electronic data management, project collaboration, and Computer Aided Design and Drafting. The aim of the skill group is to assist internally and externally with the clients to maximise the operational efficiency and project returns.

As a CAD Manager you would be responsible for managing a team of building services CAD technicians and would be reporting to the technical director for WS & CAD. Internally you would be liaising with the engineers and CAD technicians. Externally you would be liaising with the Halcrow partners and Clients.

The principle responsibilities of the role are:

producing 2D building services models and drawings
actively participation in the development of computer aided drafting and modelling capabilities, aligned with the companies overall information modelling goals. In addition, you would be responsible for producing non-building services discipline models and drawings as project demands dictate.

The successful candidate will be an incorporated engineer or have a HNC/HND (building services) or possess an equivalent qualification. It is essential that you have good IT skills and experience in the following:

producing 2D structural models and drawing
autoCAD 2004 or later
team management
It would be advantageous to have experience in 3D modelling and micro stations V8 or later.

To excel in this role you should be self motivated and proactive, with a strong desire to progress your own skills and the companies' CAD skills as a whole. You should have strong communication skills. In addition to this you should be a team player with good team management skills. This position involves occasional UK travel and possible international travel.
