Our client has the capacity to provide a full turnkey service to their clients from research and development through to testing and commissioning, installation and maintenance.


The Role
The role of the Regional Director is tasked with overall leadership of operations from the York and Birmingham locations, with a primary focus on project delivery.

The appointee will be a well respected project director and must be credible in terms of leadership ability, technical competency, achievements and reputation in the eyes of Mark and the executive management team, the project delivery community distributed throughout the Company, customers, prospective suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
• Overall management of the project delivery process from tender and bid review stage through to project completion and customer handover
• Providing leadership, motivation and direction to the teams based at York and Glasgow, comprising predominantly of engineering and project delivery staff
• Taking overall responsibility and accountability for Project Delivery with particular emphasis on budget and contribution; time; resource management and customer management
• Ensuring that the projects under your control are delivered on time, to budget and to the satisfaction of the customer
• Acting as a mentor and coach to your team. Clearly you will be a point of elevation and resolution of problems and much of the role is in the support and management of issues back through the projects in order to avoid unnecessary escalation
• You will be a provider of positive input to your team; and will be a role model of good management and project management practices
• Maintaining highly effective working relationships with Engineering and Technology functions to ensure the best possible technical solutions for projects under your control
• As a senior manager within the business, to promote the companies overall business goals at all times
• Contributing strongly as a member of the Main Line business leadership team
• Managing positive relationships with clients, partners, sub-contractors and other key stakeholders, with a particular focus on developing new business opportunities
The Candidate:
The appointee will be a well respected project delivery professional, possibly from the rail sector, but also possibly with experience from one or more other sectors which share some of the key attributes of the sector, namely:

• Large and complex projects with significant engineering content.
• High degree of potential contract risk to be managed.
• A safety critical and highly regulated environment.

Such sectors might include: electricity, water & gas utilities; the oil & gas industry; the nuclear industry; the road, air and marine transport industries; plus all the support service industries supplying these sectors, including, project management companies, prime contractors, etc.
The appointee will also be credible in terms of scale, business experience, achievements and reputation in the eyes of the Board, the Group as a whole, shareholders, customers and other stakeholders.
