Job Description

Project Engineer - RC and structures. New requirement for a contractor who is starting work on additional projects and has 2 specific jobs that will require extra engineering input. With a wealth of experience in the RC disciplines, this is an up and coming contractor who is working on projects from £2.5 to £7m.

The scheme comprises traditional groundworks packages, excavation, piling and drainage then sub-structure and super-structure RC. Steel frames may be utilised for the upper stories and for the atrium display areas. The scheme is commercial comprising multi-storey structures over a double basement. Phase 1 is about £4m, with phase 2 a further £3.5 – 4m.

The Contractor’s area of work is centred on Birmingham and extends out along the M1 / M42 / M5 corridors. The work involves predominantly RC frame work and associated groundworks with elements of pre-cast for installed items.

A Project Engineer who is capable of working with the Project Manager to provide all the site setting out information for the Site Engineer, assist with the programming and planning, accurately resolving queries, to deputise for the Project Manager at meetings and is able to plan ahead for the workforce is sought. Standard QA procedures will be in place and your duties will include monitoring the setting out and organising as-builts, checking for design queries, maintaining the site diary, raising RFI’s, cubing up for concrete, supervising pours and generally ensuring that the site proceeds as smoothly and satisfactorily as possible.

This is a role that requires a good level of communication and the ability to work with the Site Foremen to plan ahead.

Qualified to tertiary level in a Civil Engineering or associated discipline, you will have experience in working for a Groundworks & RC contractor and may be currently working as a Project Engineer or as a Senior Engineer, seeking a career/promotion opportunity.
