Job Description
Our client is currently looking for Planners to work on the Line Upgrade Projects within the Train Systems Delivery Group (Signalling and Rolling Stock). They are mainly looking for planners who can work with their consultant client to help straighten out their design programme and put proper forecasting and monitoring processes in place. They looking for planners who need to know the system primavera systems, (preferably P3E or P3e/c).
Role
To provide capital expenditure projects with the necessary planning skills, experience and support required to develop the cost loaded plan, schedule it and monitor its progress to enable the project to be delivered to time, within cost and to quality and safety standards. The candidate must have a track record of developing programmes from 1st principals through all RIBA stages of work. They must also be able to manage programmes on medium to large sized projects. Candidates should have construction experience and engineering backgrounds are a plus.
Reports
Project Manager / Project Commercial Manager for day to day project planning responsibilities and duties.
Manager of Planning and Scheduling for functional planning responsibilities, duties and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Development and maintenance of project control schedules in the company’s P3e/c database in accordance with appropriate procedures, guidelines and instructions. Update and progress programmes at a minimum of 4 weekly intervals in line with our client’s timetable for reporting to London Underground.
Ensure that project schedules accurately reflect the scope and budget of the project in accordance with an agreed Work Breakdown Structure and are of sufficient detail to enable project progress to be accurately monitored, reported and communicated.
Agree lower level schedules with task managers and contractors which can be summarized to accurately monitor and report progress against various elements and / or stages of the project and adequately reflected into the project control schedule.
Resource load planning activities which summarize work scope of more detailed activities and indicate the correct forecast of work to be performed.
Arrange for progress review meetings to be held as necessary (minimum 4 weekly) with the project manager, task managers and contractors to review and validate project progress. Propose an agenda, structure and timetable for the meetings and ensure that they interface with our client’s period reporting requirements and timetable.
Conduct site visits and interface with contractors and our client’s site personnel as necessary to authenticate progress.
Prepare project progress reports for review and validation by the project manager. Identify variances from the project baseline plan and propose corrective actions to minimise / mitigate delays. Analyse trends and identify issues which have a potential to affect progress and cause delays. Assist the project team in identifying and choosing corrective actions.
Analyse and report to Project Managers on the overall project activities and monitor project milestones and critical activities for both our client and Contractors (internal / external) and identify potential problem areas in the Projects’ Critical Items Action Report.
Analyse trends (changes/compensation events) which may imply delay and propose any required corrective actions to ensure that projects are delivered to the required cost, time and value targets.
