Job Description

Remodelling Project combines specific renewals of life expired assets with key line speed enhancement works to deliver improved journey times, increased capacity and long term sustainability improvements through the Nuneaton and Rugby Station Control Area.
The project will see implementation of a new signalling system, and complete signalling infrastructure renewal along with a new Telecom system to support the signalling renewals. It will consist of a complete reconstruction of OLE layouts throughout the Nuneaton area with AT compatible system and PWay reconfiguration within Nuneaton and Rugby station areas. Additionally there will be extensive civil works, bridge renewals, 3 new platforms and a new 11kV supply and distribution.
Ensure that the appropriate engineering standards are used in relation to design and construction within the Civils elements of the RuN Remodelling Project.
To ensure that the RuN Remodelling Project Civils works comply with legislation, Railway Group Standards, Network Rail Company Standards and West Coast Control Procedures.
To ensure that suitably qualified and experienced Civil engineering professional staff are employed to control the design and construction engineering aspects of all contracts within the RuN Remodelling Project.
Enable the RuN Engineering Manager to achieve the following:
1. Ensure the competence of all Civil Engineering, Project and Construction Engineers working on the RuN Remodelling Project.
2. Provide functional guidance, direction and briefing to RuN Remodelling Project and Construction Engineers.
3. Review the application of engineering controls and procedures to the RuN Remodelling Project.
4. Expedite Design Deliverables from the design contractor.
5. Ensure the use of relevant techniques and procedures of Quantified and Qualitative Risk Assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects.
6. Ensure that the Environmental aspects of all projects are managed in accordance with Network Rail Environmental Policy
7. Advise the Senior Project Manager in respect of all construction activities, Testing and Commissioning and including site supervision.
8. Assure the competence of contractors and their design / construction /specialist staff.
9. Undertake reviews of design and arrange reviews of construction activities. Arrange audits of contractors to ensure the safety, quality and environmental aspects of design, construction, testing and commissioning and management systems are adequate.
10. Make recommendations on changes to standards, working methods, processes and procedures
11. Undertake technical investigations to identify the cause, evaluate the outcomes and make recommendations for improvements in order to prevent re-occurrence.
12. Co-ordinate activity with other areas within Network Rail to ensure desired outcomes are achieved
13. Carry out the duties of Contract Coordinator as directed by the Engineering Manager.
