Setting out Engineer – RC, multi storey structures. Immediate requirement for a contractor who is starting work on 2 new buildings and has a specific role to fill. The project is currently at the site clearance / groundworks stage and we are looking for an Engineer who is prepared to either work on a freelance basis or else is eager to join a dynamic Contractor who is steadily growing year by year.

The scheme will run for 12 months plus and will enable you to be involved with all aspects of the Engineering side as well as taking on managerial duties in line with your experience. The 2 buildings are new build offices to 16 floors with 2 lift cores and metal decking and another building that goes to 9 floors and is traditional RC frame for flats.

Comprising excavation and piling, groundworks and drainage, sub-structure and super-structure RC with raft slabs and a podium you will be used to RC construction techniques and procedures. Some steel frames may be utilised for the upper stories and for the atrium display areas.

An Engineer who is capable of taking on either the Setting out Engineer’s role, working with the Project Manager and staff Engineer to provide all the site setting out information accurately and is able to stay ahead of the workforce. Standard QA procedures will be in place and your duties will include setting out and following up with as-builts, checking for design queries, maintaining the site diary, raising RFI’s, cubing up for concrete, supervising pours and generally ensuring that the sites proceed as smoothly and satisfactorily as possible. This is a role that requires a good level of communication and the ability to work with the Site Foremen to plan ahead.

Good rates of pay with hours to match are available. Preferably Degree or Tertiary level educated in a Civil Engineering or Construction related discipline, ideally CSCS and First Aid qualified. Only candidates who are legally entitled to live and work in the UK will be considered.
