Job Description

Accounts Clerk Trainee, Croydon. We are looking for an Accounts Clerk Trainee who would be interested in moving to a medium sized Developer / Contractor who is steadily growing and expanding in a field that focuses on affordable accommodation and Housing Association projects. Enthusiasm and a desire to learn are very important in the successful candidate.

Accounts Clerk Trainee. The role has arisen through company growth and it is likely that you will have a background that shows that you are interested in developing your career, but may feel that you are not getting the opportunities where you are currently working. The systems are based on Sage so familiarity with Sage would be an advantage. Your duties would include working on bought ledger, sub-contract payments, organising cheque runs, reconciling invoices and associated administrative tasks. Ideally with previous construction knowledge, through working for a contractor, in a builder’s merchants or specialist sub-contractors.

The Company. Involved in a mix of social and private housing, in new build and refurbishment sectors, they specialise in finding and reclaiming sites, identifying their full potential, based on their size, shape, accessibility and immediate surroundings, always taking into account the local planning authority's housing policy.

The Project sizes vary from 3 -4 units to larger developments of 50 plus units, either utilising timber frame or reinforced concrete construction methods in single & multiple blocks. Traditional construction will sometimes incorporate masonry and pre-cast floor slabs.

Education. You may be currently on a day release course, or have signed up for further studies in a relevant field. Your course fees would be covered by your new employer.
Working Conditions. Your working hours would generally be 0800 to 1700 for a 5 day week, with 20 days holiday per year of which 1 week is taken at Xmas. The proposed salary package would be £17 to £18,000, though this is negotiable, based on experience. The company work hard to retain their staff, and you will be joining a friendly company. Only applicants who are legally permitted to live and work in the UK will be considered.
