Job Description
A new project in Northampton to provide capacity improvements and signalling recontrol. The project is currently in the early stages of the design schedule.
Brief Job Description:
To ensure that appropriate engineering standards are used in relation to design and construction within the Engineering function on the Project.
To ensure that the Project Engineering Works comply with legislation, Railway Group standards, Our client’s Company standards and West Coast Project Control Procedures.
To ensure that suitably qualified and experienced Engineering Professional staff are employed to control the Engineering aspects of the Project.
Enable the Engineering Manager to achieve the following:-
1. Ensure the competence of all Engineering, Project and Construction Engineers working on the Project
2. Provide functional guidance, direction and briefing to the Project and Construction Engineers.
3. Review the application of engineering controls and procedures to the Project.
4. Expedite Design Deliverables from the design contractor.
5. Ensure the use of relevant techniques and procedures of Quantified and Qualitative Risk Assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects.
6. Ensure that the Environmental aspects of all projects are managed in accordance with our client’s Environmental Policy.
7. Advise the Project Managers in respect of all construction activities, Testing and Commissioning and including site supervision.
8. Assure the competence of contractors and their design/construction/specialists staff.
9. Undertake reviews of Engineering. Design and arrange review of Construction activities.
10. Arrange audits of contractors to ensure that safety and quality of design, construction, Testing and Commissioning and management systems is adequate.
11. Make recommendations on changes to standards, working methods, processes, procedures
12. Undertake technical investigations to identify the cause evaluate the outcomes and make recommendations for improvements in order to prevent re-occurrence.
13. Co-ordinate activity with other areas within our client’s company to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
