Job Description
Consequently the built environment is varied and complex, ranging from a historic centre, through to the post-war expansion of residential areas and industrial estates, to modern business locations with the borough being host to a number of European headquarters of many international IT companies, due in part to its excellent public transport links to Central London being a mere 35minute train journey away.
The planning service has been pivotal in this process and has evolved into a dynamic and flexible corporate resource that reacts positively and innovatively to development pressure, while pursuing the principle of sustainable development.
As a member of this team, you will be given the opportunity to take on a varied caseload of applications and to progres to more challenging work.
To be considered for this position you will need a Town Planning qualification or related degree and will require a strong background in Development Assessment. Access to your own transport is not required as the council provide vehicles to attend site.
The contract is initially for 3months, though many contract Town Planners hav stayed at the Authority for over 12months, being a strong indication of the council’s positive working environment and willingness to provide people with opportunites to expand their skill-base.
