The Business

The Civil Engineering business in Sussex has around 100 staff and is headed up by the Director of Civil Engineering, this business unit forms part of the
Infrastructure Division that currently has around 400 staff.

Highway Engineering

Current projects range from major trunk road schemes (e.g.
Holmesdale Tunnel, A421 ... A428 ECI's) and studies to the detailed design of smaller infrastructure schemes and longer-term framework contracts (e.g. HA Project Support Framework).

Opportunities also exist to work on collaborative projects within the development infrastructure, environment and railways teams.

Job Description

· The successful candidate will be working in a team environment and will have responsibility for the production of the design drawings for all aspects of the highways design on a range of projects.
· You will also undertake aspects of scheme design from inception, through to detailed design and the provision of support to the construction team.
· You will contribute to delivering designs to programme and budget.
· You will be able to work on your own initiative and to be responsible for design, drawing production and direction of others as required.
· Your role may include communicating directly with clients, contractors and other external third parties.

Candidate Specification

· The successful candidate will be experienced in the production of highways drawings using AutoCAD 2006/2007 and Microstation Version 8/XM and have an understanding of system configuration of both AutoCAD and Microstation.

· You will be familiar with MX, Autosign, Autotrack and PDSLine software.

· You will have an understanding of highway design principles and experience of the design of highways or infrastructure schemes. You will have knowledge of the Highways Agency's DMRB and SHW.

· You will be a Technician Member of the ICE or have equivalent experience and qualifications.

Salary Range: £32,500 to £42,500 dependant on experience and qualifications
