Due to a pending retirement the civil’s department within this well established London borough are currently looking to take on an experienced structural engineer.

Our client is looking for a practical engineer to deal with educational and domestic buildings. The work will be a mixture of repairs, refurbishment and extensions on existing buildings and some new builds. It will be mostly site based but you will be required to go on site to check that work is being done correctly and to the right standards and look for defects in buildings. It is also important that you have the ability and experience to do hand calculations and diagnose problems. Successful applicants will get the chance to work on interesting and challenging projects in a local authority that values high quality work.

Successful applicants will need to have around 10 years experience in a structural engineering environment. Applicants who have gained chartered status would be preferred as will those who have the ability to work independently and under their own initiative. You will need to have a HNC or equivalent in structural engineering, a full UK driving license and own transport is essential. Local authority experience is desirable.
