Job Description

Personality Disorder Service Clinical Psychologist, 1-4 years post qualifying; forensic experience desirable but not essential. The post holder will provide a Clinical Psychology service to patients referred to the Personality Disorder Service through; assessment, treatment, consultancy, supervision, training, and research activities.

This means that there is an expectation that all staff will treat patients, visitors, colleagues as individuals and with respect and dignity at all times. Personality Disorder Services acknowledge the principles laid out in ‘Personality Disorder: No Longer a Diagnosis of Exclusion’ and ‘The Personality Disorder Capabilities Framework’. All staff will be expected to help break the cycle of rejection by providing validating interactions, maintaining constructive therapeutic relationships and by engaging in self-reflective practice.

DUTIES: Through collaboration with other disciplines, develops and delivers clinical services to patients in order to maintain, promote and re-establish psychological adjustment, to reduce the risk of re offending or psychological relapse. Maintains a defined caseload; size and composition to be agreed with the Clinical Director (Mental Health) and subject to regular review.
Provides a full clinical assessment of patients admitted, including clinical formulation, risk assessment, functional analysis of offending behaviour and personality disorder diagnosis.
Takes a lead role in providing risk management plans and case managing individual psychological treatment plans.
Contributes to the individual and group treatment programme and oversight and direction for the cognitive-interpersonal elements. Participates in the clinical supervision arrangements and takes a lead role in developing effective clinical supervision and staff support systems.
