Job Description

The Senior Building Surveyor must be professionally qualified as either Chartered Building Surveyor, full professional members of CIOB or other equivalent qualifications.

The main duties of the Senior Building Surveyor will be conducting Condition and Statutory Compliance surveys including surveys for fire precautions, disability access and discrimination and other statutory issues. These works will be carried out on a full range of buildings specifically health and education establishments and all manner of government and research facilities. The nature of buildings will range from small domestic scale to major buildings of traditional, framed or system construction. The age range of buildings will range from historic to ultra modern. Training will be given in the Practice methodology and systems for conducting these surveys.

The post holder will be a front-line representative of the Practice liaising with all clients from Director level to junior personnel and will be expected to be an ambassador for the Practice.

The role of the Senior Building Surveyor will encompass coordination of surveys on site including leading other employees and/or sub consultants working on each survey commission.

The position will require the post holder to work away from home for which all direct expenses will be reimbursed or funded direct by the Practice in respect of accommodation costs. The Practice commission locations vary nationally.
