Job Description
The Spatial Planning Team at this local authority will be substantially under strength in the New Year and a recruitment process is currently underway. However, they wish to continue to deliver the Core Strategy DPD element of the Local Development Framework as a priority so they are looking to engage a Temporary Planning Officer
The Role:
They require the person to undertake the following main aspects of the Spatial Planning Work within the 3 month period.
1. Supervise the day to day activities of the remaining team and deal with general technical queries from the public and Members of the Council.
2. Undertake a "soundness" review of the Core Strategy Development Plan Document as produced to date.
3. Identify gaps arising from 2. and develop a strategy to fill them and also for inclusion within a revised Local Development Scheme.
4. Supervise existing contracts with external consultants on current evidence gathering activities.
5. Handover to a designated new team.
The Person:
Direct experience of managing an LDF programme and producing DPDs.
Able to work with minimal supervision
Good interpersonal skills appropriate to working with an experienced team, Members and senior management of the Council
Able to work flexible hours where evening work is occasionally required.
