The Business

The Civil Engineering business in Sussex has around 100 staff and is headed up by the Director of Civil Engineering, this business unit forms part of the
Infrastructure Division that currently has around 400 staff.

Highway Engineering

§ Current projects range from major trunk road schemes (e.g. Holmesdale Tunnel, A421 ... A428 ECI's) and studies to the detailed design of smaller infrastructure schemes and longer-term framework contracts (e.g. HA Project Support Framework).
§ Opportunities also exist to work on collaborative projects within the development infrastructure, environment and railways teams.

This opportunity exists for a senior / principal engineer with a good technical background in the design and construction of highway project to broaden their knowledge and experience by project managing the design of a range of highway other transport infrastructure projects.

The responsibilities of our project managers include:
§ Providing leadership to project teams
§ Preparing and implementing project execution plans
§ Managing technical delivery through technical team leaders
§ Managing programme and budget
§ Managing internal and external communications
§ Managing project risk
§ Progress reporting
§ Financial reporting

You will have:

§ Good technical experience in at least one discipline relating to the detailed design and implementation of highway projects
§ An appreciation of the full range of technical disciplines that are needed to deliver highway schemes from feasibility through to construction
§ A knowledge of business management systems to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001

Minimum Requirements:

§ Civil engineering related degree, BEng level minimum
§ Chartered (ICE or IStructE)
