Job Description
As a Principal Tunnelling Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of challenging and demanding project requirements. This project includes a twin tube tunnel that will be the longest non estuary road tunnel in the UK.
Our client has been appointed by the Highways Agency under the NEC Contract for the design and construction of the Hindhead Tunnel under the ECI scheme. As Principal Tunnelling Engineer you will be carry out the following:
Liaise with the Contractor and lead the site supervision team.
Ensure that excavation and support meets the project design requirements.
Attend daily meetings and deal with site design issues.
Supervise the engineering geologists responsible for maintaining quality and continuity tunnel logging.
Setting the excavation and support requirements in conjunction with the Contractor
Where necessary liaising with the design office
Plan and coordinate weekly project actions
Requirements:
Experience of tunnelling construction management ideally on projects utilising SCL in soft ground conditions
Managed on site teams in challenging tunnel projects
Record of successful construction management
