Job Description

The Venues & Infrastructure (V&I) Department is responsible for preparing venues for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and for operating them effectively and efficiently at Games time.
They are looking for a Cad Manager and Assistant Overlay Designer.

The Design and Overlay team sits within the V&I Department and produces designs for temporary facilities and the overlay drawings for all competition venues as well as the majority of non-competition venues. The team also provides venue design and operations guidance to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and its delivery partner, design consultants and contractors as it relates to Games time operations.

This appointment is for a CAD manager who in addition will to provide CAD support to the Design and Overlay Team.

Key responsibilities/accountabilities:

Manage and develop the file structure and naming procedures for large project

Creation of a simple document retrieval plan

Clear knowledge of drawing standards and complex drawing level/layer structure

Involvement with 3rd parties and drawing deliverables.

Must have an intimate knowledge of Microstation/AutoCAD

Production of overlay drawings for all Olympic and Paralympic competition and non-competition venues.

Work with the Design and Overlay team to ascertain design requirements from LOCOG’s functional area teams (such as Sport, Technology, Media Operations, Village Operations, Security, Transport, Environment) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) technical manuals.

Liaise with (Olympic Development Authority) ODA as required to provide overlay design information and to test overlay for configuration of each new venue during design development.

Production of Test Event overlays

Assist in the preparation of LOCOG Venue Requirements (technical briefs) including the preparation of design briefing information.

Reporting in to lead overlay designers.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Part 1 – Key skills, experience and qualifications required:
A CAD Manager, or CAD technician with approximately 3 years experience
Experienced in sport venue design and event overlay design would be considered an advantage
Previous sport venue design experience would be considered an advantage
Experience of working in the private sector and with the public sector
