Project / Engineer Manager – RC frame. 25 storey new build. Islington.

Requirement. We are looking for a Project Manager for a new project. The Project Manager will preferably come from an Engineering background. We would consider a very strong Project Engineer who is looking for a step up. The candidate needs to take full ownership for the project and able to operate and manage with minimal supervision. You must have sub-contractor experience, pure management experience for a Main Contractor only wouldn’t be suitable.

The Project value is about £8m and consists of a single storey RC basement with a 25 storey RC tower and a 7 storey low rise area. Contract duration is about 60 weeks. Piling is due to commence in the next two weeks. Therefore we are looking for somebody to start as soon as possible. This is a multi-storey mixed commercial and residential development so you must be aware of the constraints and implications of working at heights and with cranes. Strong client facing skills will be expected.

Construction is primarily in situ concrete with an element of pre-cast for certain items. You will be required to take the scheme through to completion of the frame and cladding elements. Additional work may be available as the Contractor is bidding for the next phases, though to date they have the shell and core with associated externals.

The Contractor is a recognised and successful company operating in London and the south-east. They have a good track record of producing the finished article on time and to budget. Turnover for 2008 is likely to exceed £200m and is continually growing.

Reporting to a visiting Contracts Manager or Director this is an opportunity for a Project Manager to show their skills and gain rapid promotion to larger schemes or for a current No. 2 on a larger project to step up.

Qualified ideally to tertiary level with a Civil Engineering related degree or qualification you will be used to managing and reporting on:

Rewards from this contractor are based on an above average salary of £65 – 75,000 neg. based on experience and negotiable, plus a good benefits package and the opportunity to earn good completion bonuses.
