Job Description
Pod Manager. To work on major brown-field re-development sites in west London. An immediate requirement to join this developer working on these high profile schemes for one on the UK’s foremost developers.
The Projects. These are part of an overall scheme including a major mixed use re-generation project that will see the construction of a luxury hotel, an apart-hotel, over 500 residential units for private and affordable housing, retail and commercial units, fitness centre, restaurant and bars. The entire complexes will be set within landscaped gardens and squares. Travel links by rail to central London and the UK rail network are nearby as well as being convenient for Heathrow airport.
The Role. You must ideally have experience in working on modular construction in RC frames for hotels, substantial private residential or housing association schemes, commercial, industrial or leisure developments. Of major importance is the knowledge gained from working either for a relevant contractor or subcontractor or supervising them if coming from a main contractor background. Your experience will have come from co-ordinating and supervising the activities of subcontractors and / or a direct labour force on a large scale scheme. A good eye for detail is essential, so a finishing background could be an advantage.
Specifically. You must be able to travel to Yorkshire on a monthly basis to monitor QA/QC on prefabricated units. On site you will liaise with the Delivery Manager to arrange delivery and off-loading requirements, arranging the correct placement of the pods. Snagging checks will be carried out at delivery, installation and connection.
These will be carried out jointly with the supplier’s representatives. Consequently you will need to have a good working knowledge of connections and facilities.
Background. A Technical or relevant Trades qualification to a tertiary level is preferred as is evidence of working with and relevant qualifications to do with installation and connections of building services. Additionally current CSCS certification and proof of an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation is sought. You will need to have good oral and written communication skills and be prepared to work a 6 day week on construction hours. You may currently be working as a site or senior engineer and seeking additional responsibility and career progression.
Salary. A package that includes a good basic of £40 to 43,000 plus the usual benefits associated with a PAYE post for a reputable employer is on offer. You must be legally entitled to live and work in the UK to be considered for the post.
