Job Description
This consultancy specialises in providing high level advice to clients on access, transportation and infrastructure issues and supporting development proposals through the planning process. They have become increasingly involved in the expanding field of integrated transport working for clients in all sectors throughout the UK and wish to further expand there work in this dynamic sector.
This consultancy are now seeking to recruit a high calibre Principal Engineer to join there team and play a key role in expanding there integrated transport capability.
Responsibilities
Your principal role will be supporting our expansion into the integrated transport field including transport strategy work, public transport studies, interchange, light rail and alternative modes, funding bids, consultation studies, project appraisal and multi-modal studies.
You will take a key role in preparing proposals and in managing projects. You will also provide input into development planning projects on traffic and transportation related issues. will have knowledge of section 278, 38 agreement, Highways and roundabouts. you will have extremely good negotiation skills and effectively manage to run 10 schemes at once.
You can expect to be active on a number of projects/client accounts at any given time and will have significant financial responsibility for these.
Requirements
You will be an experienced engineer/transport planner with relevant experience in the public transport or transport strategy field and will be conversant with relevant transportation planning frameworks and legislation.
You will have good project management and client liaison skills and significant experience in writing proposals and reports, for both public and private sector clients. Stakeholder and public consultation experience would also be beneficial.
You should have a sound knowledge of the transport planning process and the latest transportation agendas and an innovative approach to developing solutions. Ideally you will have experience of providing, inputs to Green Travel Plans and Transport Assessments.
Specific experience in more than one of the following technical areas will be expected:
transport strategy development, bus service operations, rail studies, light rail/alternative modes studies, interchanges, freight strategies, project appraisal, travel behaviour, accessible transport, transport co-ordination, community transport.
You will have good general computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, GIS or multi-modal modelling experience would be of great benefit but not essential.
You may come from a consultancy or possibly a public sector background with a relevant degree
and preferably with or working towards chartered status of a relevant professional institution. You will need to have excellent written and spoken communication skills and be able to work as part of a team, with enthusiasm and commitment.
