Job Description

The Traffic & Parking Service is responsible for designing a wide range of traffic schemes, for administering the enforcement of borough's parking restrictions and for providing road safety education. The Service extends to providing expert advice and local knowledge across the field of traffic engineering, parking enforcement and road safety education.

The post holder will be responsible for the carrying out of investigations, surveys, design and implementation of a wide range of major traffic engineering schemes, many of them complex. You will deal with requests from Officers from other Council Departments, the general public and external organisations for advice and information.

Thus suitable candidate will need the following:
-Proven project management experience in traffic or highway engineering at post qualification level.
-Proven experience in supervision of technical staff and a range of civil engineering contractors / consultants.
-Proven experience in the investigation of complex traffic problems, the planning, design and implementation of a wide range traffic and highway schemes.
-Proven experience in project management techniques and be able to demonstrate ability to work to deadlines and within cash limited financial budgets.
-Ability to plan his/her own workload programme within deadlines.
-Proficient in the use of AutoCAD for the production of engineering drawings.
