Job Description

Senior Quantity Surveyor. Additional requirement for a rapidly growing and expanding contractor. This is a new post to increase the Senior Commercial Managers within the company to benefit from the continuing growth in workload.

This successful Contractor has been operating for the last decade and has seen its turnover growing towards £75 million this year. Their work is in the Groundworks and RC frame sector and they have a number of repeat clients with whom work is negotiated.

The Company works in the following fields:
• Reinforced Concrete Frames
• Civil Engineering Infrastructure
• Structural Design & Construction
• Temporary Works Design
• New Build
• Refurbishment & Renovation
• Traditional Contracting

Example projects:
1. This project is a £5m package which includes sheet piling and the complete construction of a two storey basement with ground floor slab including craneage. There is further work involved with the cores and superstructure. This is a challenging project as it has boundary & party wall constraints; there is also a high water table and limited access.

2. The project is one where the bulk of the work will be complicated and intricate. All the architectural details being set out to co-ordinates throughout the building on all the RC elements. Cladding, the finishes and the package of external works are all incorporated in an overall project value of £8.5m.

Profile. Ideally qualified to tertiary level in the Quantity Surveying field. An RICS qualification would be an asset, though practical and commercial knowledge are more important in the day to day operations. You would ideally have at least 5 years UK relevant field experience, working for RC or Groundworks contractors or main contractors with D&B expertise.

Your Role. This is an opportunity to take a pro-active role and the company directors will give you every support. You must be able to work well with the existing company staff, contractors and have a proactive communicative approach to the role. You must have good written and communication skills and an ability to develop and implement strong Commercial performance related systems and procedures where required.
