Job Description
Our client is a multidisciplinary consultancy – which enables their engineers and environmental consultants to work in partnership. They are recognised globally and have clients that consist of multinationals, major corporates, government bodies, financial institutions and manufacturers.
They are now in the position to take on a new member for their Soil and Groundwater team.
The successful candidate should be degree qualified, preferably to MSc level, in a relevant discipline (Hydrogeological or related geoscience subject) with post graduate experience.
Membership of a relevant professional institution, actively participating in a Chartership scheme.
Professional experience should include the day to day involvement with contaminated land investigations, an understanding of the legislative framework and methods (e.g. quantitative risk assessment) used in the assessment of contaminated land and proven track record in a wide range of field investigation techniques.
The successful candidate should be a proactive team player, with strong skills in communication and demonstrable report writing skills.
Experience in remediation would be an advantage although not essential.
The successful candidate will be based in the URS Manchester / Liverpool office and will report on a day to day basis to the local Soil and Groundwater Team Leader.
The appointed person will be required to work closely with others and, through this process, should share their expertise to enable less experienced staff working around them to develop and progress their own careers.
The successful candidate will also be required to develop project, financial and client management skills.
The successful candidate will need to be flexible, with the ability to re-prioritise work commitments at short notice, and the willingness to work away from home for short periods, as necessary.
Minimum Requirements :
BSc - Geology, Environmental Science or Engineering Discipline.
MSc (or higher) Hydrogeology, Water Resources or similar Engineering/Numerate Discipline.
Relevant experience ideally should include risk assessment and/or groundwater modelling experience, and an understanding of contaminant behaviour or hydrochemistry.
Relevant Experience in the performance, analysis and interpretation of hydrogeological testing including pumping tests and packer testing, as well as, field supervision of drilling, monitoring well installation, soil and groundwater sampling.
Must have experience in preparing technical reports including data analysis, calculations and design documentation, as well as good organisational, verbal and written communication skills.
