Job Description

A Senior Engineer position is available for a suitably qualified person with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in a management role in a local government setting. Extensive and professional knowledge of traffic management, road safety engineering, cycling and walking schemes is required to lead, manage and develop the work of part of the Traffic Management and Road Safety section.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team engaged in the development and implementation of projects aimed at aiding the movement and improvement of the safety of all user groups on the public highway, including traffic signal improvements, cycling and walking schemes, crash reduction measures, traffic signing schemes, traffic management orders and consultation with stakeholders. Working knowledge of these areas is required.

Must be an excellent communicator with the ability to present complex issues to a wide audience, a highly motivated team player, and must be able to prioritise, organise and undertake their duties with minimal supervision.

The post holder will be responsible for budgets, the delivery of the traffic management and road safety service, and for making appropriate bids for funding. Hence experience of making bids through the Borough Spending Plan/Local Implementation Plan processes, particularly for a London Borough, would be advantageous.
