Job Description

Bridge Engineers are required in the busy Leeds office of this leading international consultancy to work on a variety of bridge management, maintenance, design and development schemes in both the highway and rail sector. The Bridges team serves clients across the M62 corridor from Liverpool to Hull and also in Northern Ireland.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop and progress within the company. The successful applicant will be eligible to join the graduate Training Programme and will be supported towards attaining Chartered status.

Responsibilities include: Preparation of bridge design and drawings;Undertaking assessment and inspection of existing bridge stocks; Carrying out feasibility studies for strengthening and repair; Assisting in the maintenance of structures on behalf of overseeing authorities; Management of small schemes or parts of larger schemes;
Overseeing the work of Junior Technicians and Graduate Engineers;Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams and
Ensuring compliance with appropriate design and health and safety standards.

Interested candidates should possess a degree in Civil Engineering and post-graduate experience, preferably in a structures or bridges design office. You will
be able to demonstrate an aptitude for structural design, possess good communication skills (both written and oral) and have knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications. Experience of grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software packages and a working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges would be an advantage.
