Brief Overview, Location and Salary:

Contract positions for Geotechnical Engineers or Engineering Geologists are available for our clients’ office based in West Byfleet to assist the team with all aspects of highways maintenance earthwork schemes. There is the opportunity for extended contract work for the right candidate.

About the Role:

A varied work load will include:

Geotechnical walk over surveys;
Office based pre-construction design and desk studies;
Office based post-construction reporting;
Site based construction supervision;
Maintain and fulfil all requirements of QA, QMS and EMS;
Liaison with both the design office and contractor; &
Specification, supervision and reporting of site investigation.

About You:

We are seeking competent self motivated individuals with the ability to work independently.

It is essential you can demonstrate the following qualifications & skills:

BSc, BEng / MEng in Geology, Civil Engineering or a Geotechnical subject;
Experience of supervising earthwork construction projects;
Experience of liaison with design office and contractors;
Experience of maintaining and implementing Quality Assurance, Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems;
Knowledge and experience of soil parameters and testing for earthworks;
Good report writing skills;
Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB);
Medical fitness suitable to undertake work on site;
Possession of a full driving licence.

In addition it would be desirable for you to demonstrate the following qualifications & skills:

Experience of Geotechnical Design for Highways or other linear schemes; + knowledge and experience of the investigation and assessment of contaminated land.
