Job Description

One of the largest Consultancies in the UK who take the lead in the market Highways Network are seeking a Team Leader to join their vibrant Highways team in Croydon. With currently over 11,000 employees in the UK and a turnover approaching £450 million a year, this is certainly an excellent time to join.

You will be assisting with the delivery of schemes for TFL's South Area and will lead a team of up to 10 staff in delivering the design of carriageway and footway schemes.
The division delivers highways structures maintenance services, network management services and highways/infrastructure projects to external and internal clients and operates an integrated approach to the delivery of these services.
The key responsibilities and duties are as follows:
·Responsible for the design of carriageway and footway reconstruction and resurfacing schemes, and improvement schemes to acceptable quality standards and financial targets. This includes:
§Feasibility,
§Outline and preliminary design (including design reports)
§Detailed design.
·To closely monitor the state of progress on all projects to ensure programmes are met, and report frequently on progress, identifying workload and resource needs.
·To provide effective leadership to the team, and allocate and manage staff and other resources to deliver projects to agreed budgets and timescales.
·To keep the team productively engaged, and to develop and mentor team members.
·To conduct staff appraisals and development reviews.
·To manage the input of supply chain partners (for example testing houses) to the successful delivery of design work.
·To liaise with project stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of design work.
·To act as financial Project Manager for design projects and to manage the financial aspects of projects in a robust manager, including preparation and monitoring of cost plans and weekly monitoring of project costs.
·To advise clients on compliance with statutory and industry best practise, and contemporary industry trends.
·To be responsible for ensuring project work is compliant with corporate quality management standards, and to check outputs (including design reports).
You will be required to have:
·Preferably in possession of Honours degree in civil engineering.
·High level of competency in design of highway maintenance schemes.
·Strong project management skills.
·Competent in relevant health and safety requirements, including CDM Regulations.
·Competent in Quality Management.
·Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
·Able to develop strong stakeholder relationships.
·Able to lead and motivate a team.
·Able to work independently with minimal supervision
