Job Summary
Atkins Transport Planning are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager with a background in Transport Planning/ Traffic Engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to join the co-located team in our Berkshire office.

We are a rapidly expanding team and require a capable Project Manager to help drive the business forward and are looking for an enthusiastic proven team player to manage a number of our high profile projects.

Business Summary
In April 2007, Atkins Networks and Traffic (one of three market-facing business streams within Atkins Transport Planning) embarked on a five year framework commission with Slough Borough Council. We have a co-located team based in Slough who are currently working on a diverse range of projects, including:

Slough Station Forecourt – a combined traffic engineering and public space project at Slough rail station.
Slough High Street – a High Street Improvement Scheme that we are providing assistance on the Public consultation and TRO element.
Freight Strategy – Atkins are working with the Council to produce their Freight strategy for the Borough.


Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Managing Consultant and working within a team you will be expected to perform the following duties.

Lead on specific business improvement and development initiatives to ensure that the business objectives of the team are appropriate, are promoted and implemented as agreed.
Provide technical expertise over a range of transport projects.
Project and task management of transport engineering and highways projects.
Financial and programme management of projects.
Management of project team staff, check and monitor the work of the teams.
Assess and programme staffing requirement of team and project teams.
Liaise with clients, professional organisations and other staff on design, cost and project programme requirements.


Key Requirements
Essential

Sufficient and appropriate experience in transport planning and traffic engineering/highways
Proven track record in project management.
Good understanding of transport planning within a Local Authority.
Good team management skills and solid managerial/financial management ability and interest.
Priority will be given to candidates with a degree in Civil Engineering, another numeric subject or equivalent.
Desirable

Local authority experience is desirable, but not essential.
Chartered or Incorporated status is an advantage, but experience and track record is the key requirement.
