The client is a provider of specialist engineering services to the utility sector. They are seeking to employ a Primary Design Engineer with the following experience:
To design electrical, civil engineering and construction contracts/projects for the companies Power Projects Aims & Objectives.
Able to produce Layout, Elevations and Detail designs for the Construction/Installation of Electricity Substations, both AIS and GIS, including:
• Transformers and associated equipment (Outdoor and Enclosed).
• Switchgear and associated auxiliary equipment (Outdoor and Indoor).
• Protection and Control equipment.
• Earthing Systems.
• Cable systems (both HV and Multicore including tray work).
• Support Structure Specification.
• Schedule of Busbar and Fittings to designs.
• Permanent and Temporary (CDM Site) Welfare installations.
• Specification of Electrical requirements for Civil Design (conduits, bases, floor openings, equipment fixing details, Transformer enclosure sizing, etc.).
These Designs are to:
• When constructed, result in a Safe Operational Environment.
• Allow for the Safe Installation of all plant.
• Take account of the physical, electrical and mechanical requirements/characteristics of the installed plant.
Experience
Experience of working on projects in the construction or electricity industries. Experienced in design work on all voltages up to 132kV and civil works.
Health and Safety
• Implement the companies, and customers, safety rules, instructions, standing orders and procedures.
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing H&S and CDM plans and files for projects in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
• Ensure that Safety, Health and environment are taken into account at the design stage of projects and wherever possible design risks out of the system in line with CDM2007.
• Report any concerns regarding SHE to the SHE team and your manager.
• Comply with Industry Standard Specifications (i.e. Engineering Recommendations, BS, IEC, etc.)
