Quantity Surveyor – New Build – Main Contractor - Bedfordshire

A Quantity Surveyor is required to work on NHS LIFT projects with in the Northern Home Counties (mainly Bedford, Milton Keynes, Letchworth, and Stevenage) for a respected Main Contractor, part of one of the largest Construction Groups in the UK.

The first project is to commence on site in July 2008 in Bedford with other projects to commence thereafter in phased sequence until 2011. Most of the projects will be New Build Construction with some of the projects being Refurbishments to existing buildings.

Project values will range from £5million - £20million with contracts mainly being based on Design & Build forms of contract.

The works on the Bedford project comprise of Construction of a New Build 3 storey building with in the grounds of a Health Village.

The construction scope of works comprise of:

·Substructure
·Superstructure
·Envelope and Cladding
·Mechanical and Electrical instillation – to final commissioning
·Glazing and Curtain Walling
·Internal Fit Out

As a Quantity Surveyor you will be site based working alongside the project teams to deliver commercial requirement of individual projects. Control overall project costs including sub-contractor procurement and management, preliminaries, cost plans and reporting. Assist estimators in tendering schemes, cost planning and design evaluation, value engineering and assist in development of the new area supply chain.

Ideally you will have a stable work history working for a Main Contractor. Having experience working on Health projects is desirable but not essential.
