An opportunity exists for a hydrologist with 5 – 10 years experience to work in the Rivers and Coastal engineering team in Swansea, supporting clients such as the Environment Agency and internal clients.

Requirements

Candidates should have extensive experience in flood hydrology, especially Flood Estimation Handbook methods. This should include familiarity with the application of flood estimates to river modelling packages such as ISIS / Mike-11.

Applicants should have a good working knowledge of hydrometry. Some experience in low flow studies is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

You will provide technical hydrological advice and support to the Rivers and Coastal team in Swansea and will also be liaising with other offices.

The successful candidate will contribute to a range of projects including:

  • The application of FEH procedures to flood risk assessments, flood modelling and flood alleviation design.
  • Preparation of catchment flood management plans.
  • Feasibility studies and scheme implementation for hydrometric facilities (gauging stations etc.)

An opportunity exist to take on positions of responsibility including managing projects and leading project teams.
