The Consulting Energy Services division for the MEIEA region (Middle East, India, Europe and Africa), based in Redhill, has grown during the last 5 years and is forecast to double its turnover this year.
Black & Veatch is currently looking for Project Managers to work in its Redhill offices to provide high quality advisory services to clients throughout the region. Effective project management skills and the ability to manage resources from within a globally based engineering organisation are seen to be key pre-requisites for the position. Responsibilities will include:
Providing a support to Project Engineers and/or Mechanical Engineers where you will be required to liaise with the client on the technical and commercial aspects of projects.
Liaison with internal departments globally to obtain necessary expertise and resource support.
Advising clients including developers, plant operators and banks. This may also include design, design review and construction supervision.
Acting as advisor relating to the building of new or the purchase/extension/improvement of existing, power generation plant. This will involve the evaluation and optimisation of the proposals of others or proposing the basic design parameters for new/revised plant.
Specification preparation, report writing and technical evaluation of bids.
Obtaining new work through new or existing clients. This would be achieved as follow on work as a result of excellence and also through existing or new client networking.
Being responsible for the preparation and submission of winning proposals.
International travel will be necessary from time to time, depending on the location of projects.
Applications are welcomed from Project Managers who can demonstrate the following:
Educated to a minimum level of a B.Sc. Engineering or B.Eng. degree in a mechanical or electrical discipline (or equivalent).
Preferably a member of IMechE.
Project management experience of power related projects including water treatment for power plants, desalination, fuel and ash handling and flue gas clean up
Computer literacy. The applicant must be competent in the following packages: MS Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); MS Project; AutoCAD or other CAD packages will be an advantage.
Project Engineers will be expected to negotiate with clients and their contractors, therefore excellent negotiation skills and cultural awareness/adaptability will be essential.
