Job Description

This Olympic borough requires a suitably qualified person with a minimum of 2 years working in a Traffic Engineer's (or similar) role, preferably in a local government/transportation consultancy setting, with detailed knowledge of and experience in the development and implementation of traffic management projects, such as 20 mph zone, traffic calming, walking and cycling schemes, is required to join a busy traffic section.

The person must have excellent communication skills, as he/she will be required to prepare reports and letters, and will be required to communicate with customers in person, in writing and by telephone. The person must also be highly numerate. Experience of preparing documentation for and undertaking consultation exercises with the public would also be an advantage.

The post involves the use of computers, and ideally the candidate should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD 2005 (or a later version) software packages. It would also be useful if the person has experience in the use of Key Lines, AutoTrack and AutoSign.
