Job Description
One of the UK's leading engineering consultancies, turning over approximately £400M, is looking for an Assistant Route Manager for Structures and Tunnels, at it's office in North London.
The role will entail supporting the Tunnels Route Manager with managing highway tunnels on major roads in North London, including:
-Preparing and facilitating annual tunnels desktop emergency exercises
-Planning and implementing live emergency exercises in tunnels
-Ensuring implementation of fire risk assessment control measures in tunnels
-Assisting in the Project Management and overseeing of works in the Tunnels Renewals Programme·
-Assisting in the Project Management of the Tunnels Management System pilot scheme
-Overseeing tunnels revenue works undertaken by the Highway Maintenance and Works Contractor (HMWC)
-Carrying out inventory of mechanical and electrical equipment in North Area tunnels to enable accurate payment for ordered maintenance
-Assisting in management of routine and reactive pump maintenance within subways and highway pumping stations
-Assisting in managing the upgrading of pumping station telemetry systems.
-Overseeing routine and reactive maintenance to some 1000 no. highway structures including viaducts, bridges, retaining walls, gantries, subways and culverts
-Liaison with the HMWC in facilitating access to structures for inspections carried out by consultants
-Assisting in the management of abnormal load movements on the TLRN
-Assisting in the management of the Structures Revenue Programme·
-Issuing Service Instructions to the HMWC for ordered maintenance·
-Measuring works carried out by the HMWC for payment purposes·
-Authorisation of final accounts
The Assistant Route Manager – Structures & Tunnels will be co-located with the HMWC and will be TfL's ‘network based' representative assisting in managing structures and tunnels.
The appointee will be Degree qualified with some post qualification experience in highway engineering; have a good understanding of a range of relevant standards and advice notes from the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and British Standards incorporated in the DMRB by reference; Experience of computer software packages in common use in the engineering profession; Good understanding of projects and programme management methodologies; Strong communication skills and a strong understanding of safety at work essential. Ability to write accurate, concise and grammatically correct English. A full driving licence is required.
In return the company is offering a salary of £30k - £35k, plus a pension and a range of other benefits.
