Job Description

My client aims to produce high quality engineering design in concept, in detail and in execution, on time, to programme and delivering excellent value for money. My client understands the need to be adaptable and willing to change, in response to our own growth and to the changing needs of time and the industry.
They currently require a Structural Technician to work in our London group to provide high-level technical/ service to the Group on projects as required.
·Relevant industry experience and/or appropriate technical qualification or currently undertaking a recognised training program
·Experience with concrete and Steelwork
·Competent user of Microstation V8.5, Triforma V8.5 and Bentley Structural V8.5.
·The ability to produce 3D Models using Microstation, Triforma and extract plans, sections and details from this model which the applicant can then turn into 2D General Arrangement drawings suitable for construction
·Working knowledge of Autocad
· Ability to work with a minimum Engineers brief to produce Structural drawings of a high standard to BH CAD and Drawing Standards suitable for construction purposes
· Good general computer and IT skills
·Good communication skills, experience in dealing with other employees and external clients
·Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations and guide other technicians
·Experience of working on a one to one basis and in team working situations
Key Responsibilities:
·Act as Job Leader
·Work competently on an independent basis
·Communicate directly with Clients
·Prepare technical and financial proposals for new work
·Manage workload of Project Technicians (including verification of quality)
·Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design
·Prepare Technical Specifications
· Monitor financial performance of jobs
·Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary)
·Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved
·Ensuring all relevant BH staff are informed of client matters
·Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client's best interests and that BH policy is in keeping with current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice etc.
