Job Description

Design & Build Planner required for the construction division of this successful London based contractor. They require a Design & Build Planner / Planning Engineer to join their successful planning department. Established more than 25 years ago, ongoing workload is assured as their order book runs through 2009. Schemes underway will require monitoring from a planning perspective, however the emphasis will be on new projects in the £10 to £32m range.

Projects range from commercial to residential, in low rise and multi-storey schemes, including both local authority and speculative elements. We require an experienced individual able to take over from the present Planner / Programmer who will be gradually retiring. You will probably come from an Engineering or Project Management background, ideally having worked for contractors in the London market, with previous planning experience an advantage, but not essential.
Drafting effective programmes of work in conjunction with the Project Team and the Estimating department, these programmes will form the basis of successful bids and will be reviewed post contract award and monitored once work starts on site.
Background. You will undoubtedly have practical site experience and may have been a Senior or Project Engineer, Site or Project Manager and be seeking an office based role where you can utilize your years of experience to facilitate future construction projects from the drawing board to practical completion.
Qualifications and Experience. You will probably have a Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and at least 5 years practical experience on site working for a D&B contractor, Main Contractor or a substantial RC contractor.
Project managers will take daily control, once the project commences, whilst your role will be to review the programmes on an ongoing basis, with the site based team, reporting to the Construction Director. The requirement is that you will also form part of the bid team, working closely with the estimating team through the bid stage.

Expectations on salary will be met and surpassed for the right individual who can clearly demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and a desire to succeed. Exposure to civils & construction in a planning and programming remit with RC knowledge would be advantageous but not essential; however a comprehensive IT knowledge would be expected.
