Job Description

An East Sussex Borough are looking to appoint a Senior Planning Officer to their Development Control department.

The Senior Planning Officer will have to deliver a high quality, responsive development control service in a defined area of the city, by undertaking a caseload of planning applications and all associated work and ensuring that legislation and the Council's policies are adhered to.

The Senior Planning Officer will also be responsible for consult with applicants, owners, Officers of the council and other official bodies and all other interested parties relating to applications submitted under the Planning and Listed Building Acts; consider the results of these consultations, policies and all other relevant matters; negotiate where appropriate to improve proposals, make recommendations on the determination of applications and report recommendations to the Planning Applications SubCommittee.

The appointed Senior Planning Officer will need to have experience in a similar role in the UK, along with RTPI membership and managerial skills.
