Key Accountabilities:
The Senior Consultant in London is a primary position within the Transport Planning team of our client's European Infrastructure Group.
You will be integral in developing the transport planning and modelling team and its service delivery to our clients.
You will assist with the development, training, service delivery and direction of the London Transport Modelling
team.
The team provides high level public transport and scheme appraisal advice to private and public sector bodies.
Typical clients include: BAA Ltd, Transport for London, Docklands Light Railway, London Development Agency and London Underground Limited.
You will be responsible for:
Financial
Project financial performance including:
Utilisation
Bill to Target rates
Productivity factors
Management of Working Capital relating to projects
Operations
Supervises Technical and Quality outcomes on projects
Project Manages projects within the team and Section
Responsible for reporting to Section Manager & Ops Centre Manager
Clients
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate or provide evidence of:
maintaining existing business relationships and develop new business in line with Business Unit strategies
client satisfaction (internal and external) on all projects managed by section staff
application of appropriate traffic engineering software/tools and reporting
experience of applying LINSIG, Transyt, ARCADY and PICADY
experience in negotiating with local authorities and developers
client relationship orientation
project management skills
a proactive approach with workload and team members
interpreting and communicating information of a complex nature
working for public and private clients
understanding of the business/marketing context of transport planning
prepare written reports and make presentations to clients
undertake numerate-based assessments
understanding of the importance of transport planning, traffic engineering and transport modelling interactions
application of outputs from modelling to deliver sound results for assessing future transport conditions
conducting investigations, analysis and consulting within given timeframes to enable preparation of written reports
achieve outstanding client success
Selection Requirements:
The post is one of technical leadership within the London office, dealing with our key relationship clients, BAA Ltd and Docklands Light Railway.
Skills and experience to a high level are required in statistical analysis and mathematical model development and
implementation, particularly in the transport field. Specific mathematical, statistical and computing skills must include spreadsheet and database model development, numerical and analytical solution techniques of a wide array of mathematical and statistical problems, and the implementation of these in various computing environments.
Experience with Access and Limdep would be desirable.
Experience in TRIPS/CUBE is an essential requirement. EMME/2 experience would be desirable.
Computing experience in languages such as Delphi, Fortran, Modula-2 and Pascal will be beneficial.
The candidate must have extensive experience with the Windows computing environments and numerous scientific software packages.
The candidate will possess strong inter-personal relationship skills and demonstrate appropriate experience in
proactively managing clients and client relationships. They will need to liaise extensively with staff in our Melbourne
office, who provide significant project input to our BAA work.
Whilst we would not want to exclude young candidates of exceptional talent, it is likely that only candidates with close to 10 years’ experience will possess the necessary breadth of skills.
