A busy and productive local London Authority is currently sourcing senior levels of engineers to take on the role of Principle within the Traffic and Road Safety Team in order to support and contribute to the development of the Councils objectives, schemes and challenging targets.

As part of the Planning, Transportation & Highways department you will be responsible for supporting the Manager and Traffic & Road Safety team in the design and delivery of a range of projects and programmes relating to traffic management, highway engineering, parking schemes, safety auditing, regeneration and planning. As a Principle Engineer your role will entail
• the supervision of Traffic Engineers and to ensure that they and their projects are properly managed and delivered
• to ensure that up-to-date guidelines and policies, in line with the stake holder's needs and service requirements are both in place and properly practiced in accordance to council regulation and standards
• to ensure that resource and cost limits are not exceeded
• the maintenance of internal and external relationships and
• providing support, motivation, training and development of staff within the transportation sector
As a senior level of staff within the Traffic and Transportation department you will also be required to attend and make presentations at Committees and meetings.

Successful candidates will a have a background in civil engineering, and a related degree as well as experience with in the Traffic and Transportation sector with a focus on road safety, network management and planning. A developed understanding of UK standards and codes is beneficial as is a working knowledge of general computer packages such as Microsoft and AutoCAD.
