The industry leader in traffic and transportation is a professional support services group, which helps clients in the public sector and regulated industry to provide better everyday services to customers and communities. Operations include highways, rail, property, housing, gas, water, and management consultancy in a wide range of disciplines. The company has 11,000 employees, more than 80 offices in the UK, and a turnover in excess of £375m.

They're looking to bring in a manager for a multidisciplinary team that progresses their traffic and transport projects, from concept development through to handover for detailed design.

You'll take personal responsibility for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget and in the most innovative, effective ways possible. An important focus of your work will be the day-to-day management of the team and the forward planning of resources needed to handle the workload. As mentor and coach to the team, you'll identify skills gaps and training needs, and encourage career development.

Ideally a chartered member of a relevant institute, you will be qualified in transport, engineering, planning or urban design. Well versed in current local and central government transport agendas, you'll be adept at partnership working and generating innovative approaches to client challenges. High-level project management skills are also essential, as is experience that includes financial management, public consultation and team leadership. You'd also need to be familiar with micro-simulation packages such as Linsig, Transyt and Vissim.
