Key Activities will include:

Operating on a shift basis including regular night and weekend working. You will report to the Tunnel Agent. You will liaise with designer, site geologists as required. You will assume overall responsibility for health and safety, quality, risk management, effective coordination of the tunnelling operations, and managing the activities of the engineers, surveyors and materials engineers for your shift. During the night shift and weekends you will be the senior responsible person on site.

Experience and qualifications:

A minimum of HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent) is required. Holder of a relevant CSCS Card (Platinum or black). We are looking for someone with several years’ senior management experience working underground in the civil engineering or mining industries. Previous experience of wet sprayed concrete lining systems for tunnel construction is required for this role.

The person:

We are looking for someone who can take responsibility for the tunnelling activities carried out during that shift and to meet the production targets. Somebody who demands the highest standards of health and safety performance and can motivate his team to achieve. Who is able to respond to change and deal with emergency situations in a calm and appropriate manner.
