Job Description

The design environment is a multidiscipline, integrated team approach in a studio structure. Design teams will be composed of planners, architects, engineers, and landscape architects throughout the development of projects. Projects focus on government funded programs and include a variety of project types from social housing, office buildings, master planning, etc. Clients include state and local jurisdictions as well as private work.

Role:
Under general supervision, develop plans for utilization of land and physical facilities of cities, counties, and metropolitan areas, applying diverse knowledge of planning principles and practices. The Planner at this level applies experience and increasing proficiency in the use of urban/environmental planning theories, practices, and company policies.

Responsibilities:
•Perform various assignments requiring conventional planning expertise, may include some difficult planning and coordination requirements. Gather, compiles, and analyzes data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use.
•Confers with local authorities, civic leaders, social scientists, and land planning and development specialists to devise and recommend arrangements of land and physical facilities for residential, commercial, transportation, industrial, and community uses.
•Develop recommendations based on governmental measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, housing, and transportation to control and guide community development and renewal.
•Reviews and evaluates environmental impact reports.

Requirements:
•4-year degree in Urban/Environmental Planning and 3-5 years of related work experience
•Working knowledge of urban/environmental planning practices and procedures
