Assistant Engineer - Highway Maintenance

Job Description

The Assistant Engineer is responsible to the Highways Team Leader for the delivery of highway projects (principally capital maintenance ie resurfacing and footway renewals) and individual project tasks. Key duties include project management duties to ensure programmes are met; developing good working relationships with client and contracts; reporting progress to Team Leader - with a proactive approach to dealing with any problems that may arise. To also ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget, company QA procedures are applied to all projects and work is carried out in compliance with Health and Safety legislation and CDM regulations(in particular fulfilling the Designer obligations in accordance with CDM, ACOP and MP procedures). We are seeking someone with a Civil Engineer degree, and 2 years relevant post-graduates experience. You will have the ability to produce work the quality standards and within budget and to programme; as well as being able to desing capital maintenance projects including liaison, traffic management, working with statutory authorities. Good IT skills including microsoft word and excel and a proficiency in AutoCad are also needed; as well as good interpersonal skills, report writing and experience in site supervisions of highway works and project management skills.
