Job Description

Description: To undertake project manager role within the Hydrogeological team based in Cardiff i.e. within large projects or manage inputs of other staff into smaller projects.
To provide technical support and workload for projects both within the hydrogeological team and other groups within the Environment Group as a whole.
To develop client and third party liaison skills as well as technical skills to become either project manager or technical specialist.

Main Responsibilities:

· To undertake defined technical tasks within existing and new projects to produce deliverables on time to the required quality and to budget;

· To undertake field based work including supervision and management of site investigations including third party contractors and PB staff - variable periods on site;

· To gain further experience of site investigation techniques both for contaminated land and hydrogeological investigations;

· Be familiar with current environmental legislation in particular related to groundwater, surface water and contaminated land;

· To design investigations and produce technical proposals and budgets for issue to clients;

· To undertake technical reporting and analysis of results from investigations and produce recommendations for clients;

· To attend meetings with clients and third parties e.g. Environment Agency to present results of works undertaken and agree way forward;

· To assist with training of junior staff on site in undertaking fieldwork to required protocols;

· To assist with and develop skills in the design and implementation of groundwater remediation schemes.

· To work well within a team environment

MSc Hydrogeology/Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering together with a BSc Geology/Environmental Geology or similar are required. In addition, the successful candidate should have a good knowledge of basic hydrogeological principles. Together with a thorough knowledge of relevant current environmental legislation and site investigation technicques.
