Main purpose of the job

·To be responsible for the efficient and effective management and development of a Safeguarding and Support or Corporate Parenting Team.

Managerial responsibility

·Overall management responsibility for all staff within the team
·Clinical supervision responsible for:
·Up to 2 Consultant Practitioners, specialist staff and up to 5 Social Workers

Main responsibilities and tasks

1To provide effective management and leadership to the team ensuring a focus on achieving good outcomes for children is central to the team's work.

2To manage risk within the context of risk analysis and management, taking decisions in the best interests of the child, the worker and the organisation. This will include assessing the level of risk and / or service to be offered to users, ensuring that the highest priority work is allocated and that the safety and wellbeing of the child is secured.

3In the context of legislative requirements and departmental policy, to establish high standards of professional practice for the team maintaining a child focus and promoting evidence informed practice.

4In the context of the national agenda and the Hounslow Children & Young People's Plan establish objectives and performance targets for the team, including monitoring systems to identify gaps, shortfalls and poor performance and allow for the identification of remedial action.


5To manage purchasing and staffing budgets delegated to the team and to develop robust systems for data collection and financial management.

6To ensure the compliance with and use of IT systems and policies are maximised within the team.

7As a member of service management team, to contribute to the development of the service overall, including integration with relevant NHS services, Education Services and Housing Services.

8To co-ordinate selection and recruitment of team staff in conjunction with other managers and be responsible for developing staff and creating a learning environment that promotes their continuous development.
