Job Description

Civil Engineer / Land Surveyor with Engineering experience. Major excavation works in a confined City site. This is a new scheme that is just starting and we need an Engineer with GPS experience.

Dimensional accuracy is required as you monitor the surrounding structures whilst this massive excavation proceeds. The Contractor is currently looking for an experienced Engineer / Surveyor who can take full control of the dimensional accuracy of this new project. The drawings will all be issued in electronic format and you should have had previous experience in establishing primary and secondary controls and reporting on and verifying all aspects of the setting out.

An experienced Engineer with a minimum of 3 years relevant UK experience in Groundworks and Infrastructure, familiar with the latest surveying equipment, especially the GPS side, to take over from the current Engineer who is being promoted. You will ideally need to be a good communicator as there is client involvement. Able to read drawings and explain the information in layman’s terms, good record keeping skills, Technical Engineering ability and being able to get on with people will make this your role. CSCS certification is essential.

Turning over in excess of £75m, operating from offices within the M25, and covering a geographical area that includes London and the Home counties, this successful Contractor covers the full range of work from site investigations and ground remediation, demolition, civil engineering and groundworks to reinforced concrete structures.

The Civil Engineering division of the company has worked and is currently working on some of the most high profile mixed use sites in the South East. The business specialises in commercial, infrastructure works and groundworks. Typical contract values range from £0.5m to £15m. Providing the client with full engineering solutions and specific engineering packages, depending on the nature of the development, a role of Principal Contractor or Sub Contractor is fulfilled.

Clear communication skills, with the ability to pass on information to the labour force, a confident approach in dealing with the main contractor, resolving drawing and information queries, a good work ethic that will lead to solving problems with your colleagues are all attributes of the Engineer / Surveyor we seek.

You will probably need to have had a minimum of 3 years setting out in field conditions, on large projects preferably for a contractor, be able to read and understand architectural, construction and services drawings and have good AutoCAD skills to be able to handle the role.
